As a *ahem* lady-in-waiting, I, out of curiosity, checked into the maternity styles of the 40's-60's.
Well ... it seems smock & tent styles were all the rage. Better than today's slimline maternity clothes?
I can't decide...
But those girdle things? NOT A CHANCE.






Oh, how I couldn't stand tight clothes when I was pregnant! I think those clothes from the past are lovely. I remember my mother saying how when she was expecting my sister in the late '60s, no one at her college knew because tent dresses were the style. It wasn't until she had to take a swim test to graduate that anyone knew she was pregnant - and yes, they still made her take the test after they found out!
