Next Stop: American Girl Store NYC!

When my daughter was a mere four-years-old, she started dreaming over American Girl catalogs. We told her that when she turned SEVEN, we would take her to New York to bring home her favorite doll, Ruthie.
And finally, after what seemed to her like an eternity, that day is here!  Her seventh birthday is next month, but we wanted to get there while this baby belly of mine is still a comfortable size :)

Thanks to the excellent customer service at these stores, Ruthie will be waiting, wrapped, at the concierge desk when we arrive this weekend:
We have reservations for TEA at American Girl Place -- and tea comes complete with a tiny tea set and chair for her new dolly friend.
And little does she know, but many of her doll's accessories are waiting for her actual birthday at grandma's house ~  among them, this gorgeous little Depression-era bed:
And little lunchbox full of tiny foods (I love the carrot!):
Our little girl is counting down the days!

  1. Oh how wonderful...memories she will never forget! Ruthie is my next one I would have to have...I have Kit, her friend and Molly and her friend Emily. One just doesn't seem to be enough! :) I wish I could get to this store someday....on my bucket list!

  3. I think that's my favorite American Girl doll era (although I like the 1940s doll, too)! That bed is beyond cute.

  5. I think you are one of the sweetest and most thoughtful moms I've had the pleasure to "know". Your little girl will carry this treasured memory for the rest of her life. You also give me inspiration for gifts and party ideas for my granddaughter who is now three. My "baby girl" is now 29 and we still have her original American Girl doll Samantha with all of her clothes and accessories. The memories were just as much for me as it was for her. :o)

  6. My 8 yr. old finally got her AG doll (one that looks like her) for Christmas...she also would religiously look at these catalogs for years. Then, of course I decided I really did want the Molly doll for myself...they have such cute clothes and things.
